Here's what we're fighting for

This is Oxford Falls Valley today - a semi-rural haven. Point your mouse at the picture to see what the proposed development would use up - it's shocking. The local community has been fighting the Oxford Falls Retirement "Resort" in one form or another since early May 2004. Read more in the Background section.

We Did It! Oxford Falls Protected For All!
18 January 2012

As recently reported in the Manly Daily the Land and Environment Court found in favour of the community!

After 7+ long years we have finally seen the back of this inappropriate development proposal!

As can be seen from our summary from January 2011 - this outcome is result of the hard efforts of everyone - not just of the Oxford Falls Action Group.

So - a big thank-you to you all for your work and perseverance - we got the outcome we wished for!

Great News! Plan Rejected by Planning Minister.
16 February 2011

We have some very exciting news for you!

The Planning Minister has announced the rejection of the Oxford Fall Retirement Village proposed by Sid Londish.

You can find the official Media Release on the Department of Planning's website, and the Manly Daily is already running a story - make sure to visit and leave your feedback in support of the decision!

The community has been wonderful in helping us take this issue to the Government, local Council and the media. We have been on TV & radio, in newspapers and have spoken to many politicians (including Premier Kenneally when she was Planning Minister).

We have asked the community many times to rally, write letters & emails, place signs in your front yards - and it has all paid off. A special thank-you should also go out to the OFAG committee members and assistants who have worked so hard over many years in the belief that we could stop this development. However without the community pulling together it would never have been successful - so well done everyone!

We're not 100% done just yet (see the Manly Daily story) but we are so so close.

Keep the truth flowing!
31 July 2010

A big thank-you to those taking the time to write to the Manly Daily in order to call reader's attention to what's going on in Oxford Falls. It looks like right now getting out the pen and keyboard is going to be our best option to get everyone out there onside for the fight. Please keep writing!

Another go around the block!
18 July 2010

As those of you who live in the Manly Daily's catchment would likely have read on Saturday, Sid's back for another go around the block. We received word late Friday on the updated proposal now being assessed by the Department of Planning and provided our perspective to the Manly Daily. We are still working to find out what definitive actions we can all take given where the proposal is at.

At a minimum we would suggest you to write to your local councillor or state member urging them to continue to oppose (or start to oppose!) this ridiculous proposal (yet again!)

Another year and still here
1 February 2010

We wish we could say that finally we have achieved a successful outcome for Oxford Falls, but unfortunately that's not yet the case. The current status of this development is that the proponent is reviewing the submissions made in early 2009!

We will keep on watching to ensure that we know if and when the status changes and we need the community out in force again!

What a day!
16 February 2009

A VERY BIG THANK-YOU to those of you who turned up to our meeting - what a great display of community spirit and what a fantastic summary of the proposal and its issues by Warringah Council.

We also had a very big day in the media, appearing in all major formats (radio, TV and newspaper), starting with front page of the SMH in their article "Aged homes in fire zone".

Other media throughout the day included:
